E.J. Del Monte Corporation Adds Recycling Options at Hotels
Rochester, NY – Hoping to promote recycling to guests and associates, The E.J. Del Monte Corporation is announcing that all of its hotels now have recycling bins, easily accessible for guests.
Some studies suggest that a typical guest room generates about one to two pounds of waste per day on a non-checkout day and double that amount on checkout days. It was found that around 80 percent of that waste was recyclable. Bins in E.J. Del Monte operated hotels will be located at main entrances, giving guests the option of recycling items instead of throwing them away.
“Guests have been asking that hotels become more environmentally friendly and this is one way we are responding to their requests, as well as continuing with our support of the green movement,” says Jim Pestke, vice president of hotel operations.
The program began in August as part of E.J. Del Monte’s green initiatives for the nine local Marriott-brand hotels in Rochester as well as the eight other hotels it operates throughout New York State.
Founded in 1953, the E.J. Del Monte Corporation entered hotel construction and operation in 1974. Since that time, the E.J. Del Monte Corporation has added 17 Marriott hotels to its portfolio to include Marriott, Renaissance, Courtyard by Marriott, Residence Inn by Marriott and Fairfield Inn by Marriott brands. Ernest J. Del Monte serves as Chairman of the Board and John Del Monte is president of the E.J. Del Monte Corporation which owns and operates nine Marriott hotels in the Rochester area, in addition to the Spa at the Del Monte in Pittsford. With its headquarters in Rochester, NY, the E.J. Del Monte Corporation employs over 800. For more information, visit www.ejdcorp.com.
